Goobye {Improvements}

For this Friday, I couldn't help but share some of Paris fashion week's favorites of mine including the goodbye of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton. Sometimes it is time to start something new and/or end something familiar. Have a great weekend!

Paris diary

Happy Tuesday! This weekend I went to Paris as a present to myself and had a wonderful time (as always). As Fashion Week is ruling the city, there were plenty of exhibitions, cool people, food and things to do and watch: View from Centre Pompidou (and dinner), Alaia exhibition at re-openend Palais Galliera, Mona Lisa and Napoleon's apartment at the Louvre, crepes and shopping in Le Marais:

New York's finest

This weekend I have been enjoying all the instagram pictures and videos from New York's fashion week and have been loving most collections so far. There are bold colors and easy, flowy fabrics for Spring. Looks I love are mostly very chic, with surprising elements in terms of combinations of materials and color schemes, but not outrageous.

Some of my favorite looks so far from NYFW Spring RTW 2014:

A day at the museum

Happy Monday! This weekend I visisted the exhibition of Edward Steichen at the FOAM museum in Amsterdam. His photographs of models, actresses and public figures are breathtaking and powerful and could have been shot yesterday.

Edward Jean Steichen (March 27, 1879 – March 25, 1973) was an American photographer, painter, and art gallery and museum curator. His photos of gowns for the magazine Art et Décoration in 1911 are regarded as the first modern fashion photographs ever published. From 1923 to 1938, Steichen was a photographer for the Condé Nast magazines Vogue and Vanity Fair.  Source wikipedia

Wrap dress celebration

Happy Friday! The famous wrap dress by Diane von Furstenberg is celebrating it's 40th anniversary! A timeless piece that has ever since fit in smoothly in the wardrobes of generations. It is perfectly chic for work, after work, to hang out in with your friends and to celebrate.

Summer gear

This week has been extremely hot in the city (Amsterdam) and I had the pleasure of follow a course with some nice extra time during lunch and after class to soak it all in. As I am not at work, I was kinds of going through my summer gear (read: vacation outfits) that I finally got to wear during the day instead of the occasional week ends. Here are my favorites:

1) Vans by Kenzo from here

2) Maxi skirts (or dresses) from here
3) Anything white from here

4) Boyfriend jeans (with heels!) from here

Come along

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. Mine was busy, but fun including late night dinners with friends, working long hours and reading in between (two of the books on my reading list, it's all or nothing with me). The only thing that would make me even more happy, is to have some summer: Amsterdam is still have on it's way (it is still either raining or clammy without sun).

Enjoy the weekend!

Mid-year review

Happy Friday! I have been in this weird place all week, where I feel a combination of gratitude and sadness all at once. Signs where popping up everywhere (on Garance Dore's blog and on Kris Carr's for example) which triggered everything even more. The last half year have been life changing for me in terms of relationships (work, love, friends and family). I feel like I am on this detox and trying to create a healthy, stable environment for myself: I changed jobs, made more effort to keep in touch with my friends and evaluated my purpose in life. It is a work-in-progress situation that is never finished, done or too late to work on. So this weird place I am in right now, is like a mid-year review at work: what are the goals you have set up for yourself?, how much is met so far?, what are the goals for the future?, etc.

One of the first results was that (as the sales started), I should treat myself to a shopping spree as a reward :)Have a great weekend!

The Great

Of course I went to see the Great Gatsby yesterday! The movie was as expected: very drama-romantical. Loved the costumes. Loved the music (Kanye, Jay-Z, Lana del Rey, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce). Loved the actors. (Almost) loved the 3D. The story was ok, not super exciting, but all the distractions named above made up for that. Happy Tuesday!

Simply white

Happy Thursday! I love simple colors (if you can call them that) and would be fine wearing only black, white, grey and blue. My closet does include other colors, but those are usually not the most commonly worn (some are just there for show). I do love stripes, dots and plaids, but all in the "simple" colors. Now that Spring is here and we have been enjoying some summer temperatures, my go to (non) color is white. This is probably not a surprise and certainly not the most unique. But it is always chic.

Trenchy

Today is the first day I put my trench on. I still wear a cardigan over my blouse, but am just so happy it is finally an option again after this long winter. Let the sunny times begin!

Pastels

Another happy Monday! I think that the Spring weather finally will be making its debut. I hope I am not too enthusiastic, but the forecast is that we are going above 10 degrees this week! This is such good news :). As much as I love watching all the Fall/Winter collections, I much rather focus on Spring (and Summer) outfits as I have been wearing my winter ensembles a little too long now. I decided to start wearing pastels as it couldn't hurt to anticipate for some sun. Enjoy the week!
